Another Way to Get a Cheap Sidekick

Wednesday 9 April 2008 @ 5:14 am

So I was searching around last night, trying to find the new code for the Avon promotion.  That didn’t go so well.  Sorry no new discount code is available that I can find.

I did find something out though.  You can order the deal online.  It isn’t as good, 2 year contract vs a 1 year but the sidekicks are  still cheap.

So for all of you avon reps out there, here is the website address to get your discount.

The address is www.t-mobile.com/avon  You are not calling it in, you are ordering online so no code is needed!

You could try calling a say you saw it on the website but did not have the code.

The sidekick slide is is free after rebates and the sidekick LX is 50 after rebates.  So if you didn’t get the other deal check this one out.  No telling how long it will last.

 Good luck

Even More Sidekick Tips and Tricks

Wednesday 2 April 2008 @ 1:49 am

Silence your Sidekick Quickly

Does the beeping of your Sidekick keep you up at night? Sure, you could always mute it but then you might miss that important phone call. A Custom sound profile is the answer. From the Jump Screen press the Menu button, select Settings then Sound Profiles. From there, you can crank up, turn down or entirely disable different sounds. Once you have a setup you like, give it a catchy name, save the profile and switch to it whenever you need a bit of silence.

Tale a Quick Camera Shot

This is how you can grab a quick picture with your Sidekick device! Bypass the trackball! From anywhere on the jump screen, a quick press of the top-right bumper will take you to the Camera app, another press will power-up your camera, and a final press will take the picture. Click click click done!

Give Your Texting Thumbs a Break

Flipping through multiple IM conversations? A quick finger-press to the left and right shoulder buttons on your Danger-powered device will cycle your back and forth through all of them - and your thumbs never have to leave the keyboard.

Enable Auto Texting on T- Mobile Sidekicks

Speed up your IM conversations, even if you are not a touch typist by enabling autotext. From the Jump Screen, press Menu, select Settings, then select AutoText. From there, set up shortcuts for all your favorite words and phrases.

Set up A Group Chat

Start or join a chat room! In AOL Instant Messenger, press MENU-J at the Buddy List screen. Get your group on!

Save IM Messages

Press MENU-M and quickly mail it to yourself. Or, share it with friends to avoid repeating yourself.
Some new Sidekick Tips and Tricks for you. These apply to all Sidekicks including the Sidekick 3, Sidekick ID, Sidekick LX and Sidekick Slide. The Camera one doesn’t apply to the sidekick ID though(for obvious reasons)!

How to Setup Email Accounts on Sidekicks

Set up your Sidekick to retrieve emails from any of your POP or IMAP email accounts - like Gmail or Yahoo! Mail. Press the Menu button, select Settings, Accounts and add a new account. Done! Plus, view emailed Word and PDF content directly on your Sidekick.

Free T-mobile Sidekick Slide, Cheap 50 Dollar Sidekick LX

Thursday 28 February 2008 @ 6:08 am

Want a free Sidekick Slide? How about a Sidekick LX for 50 dollars. A 1 year contract instead of a two year contract?

This is a deal that has been around for awhile. People are selling it on Ebay for 20 dollars or more. I will give it to you for free.

Just call 1-866-464-8662 (Press option 3)

Try telling them your mom mentioned an “Avon family and friends discount”

Update: 04/09/08

New post is up here Another Way to get Sidekick LX for 50 dollars Requires 2 year contract.

Update: 4/08/08

From the last few comments, the code below is no longer working. The best bet is to be a family member of an Avon rep who has heard about the deal.

Give them Code 5871TMLAD

UPDATE 4/5/08

This is a comment from Debbie: I was lucky enough to speak to a rep that actually gave me the code its 5871TMLAD i think its only for the lx u still need to say u work for avon be really friendly and hopefully it will work.

You have to get new service to get this discount or you can add a line to an existing service for 9.99. The Sidekick Slide is free after a 50 dollar rebate and the Sidekick LX is a heavily discounted 50 dollars after mail in rebate.

My favorite part is the one year contract. I really hate 2 year contracts of any sort!

This is a great chance to get cheap t-mobile sidekick phones.

I leave it up to you the moral implications of saying you are affiliated with AVON but surely someone you know sells it! =)

Oh and also ask about the free 50 dollars in accessory credit too! You may be able to get a good blue tooth headset or another sidekick memory card.

Have fun and let me know how it works out!

This is supposed to work for other T-mobile phones as well so good luck!

If you get one, check out our Sidekick skins shop at http://shop.sidekickskin.net.

update from 4/11/08 Comments

I JUST got off a 5 minute call… and it worked!!

The CSR made it SUPER easy for me, she even mentioned the free accessory before I did!

call 18664648662 press option 3

when the CSR answers inform them that you want to add a line for an existing account. They will ask if you have a code.. heres the code I used *5871TMOFAV*…they asked me if i worked for Avon and I explained that my mom did and they gave her a friends and family flyer.

and WAAA LAA my order was complete within second.

I was sooooooooo afraid of calling and getting turned down, but it went great!

good luck and HURRRYYYY

Sidekick Slide vs. Sidekick LX

Saturday 19 January 2008 @ 1:17 am

I have seen these questions a lot lately. Which one is better, the Sidekick Slide or the Sidekick LX? What differences are there between the Sidekick Slide and Sidekick LX?

Boygeniusreport.com has a great article comparing the two.

Here are some excerpts:

Screen

Sidekick Slide: The Sidekick Slide’s screen has a resolution of 320×240, and is exactly the same physical size as the Sidekick iD. Even though it is quite smaller than the LX, the Slide’s screen is crisp, bright, and shows vivid colors.

Sidekick LX: We’re in love with the Sidekick LX’s screen! At a resolution of a 400×280, it provides ample room when web browsing, or just doing general tasks with the device. This is the main reason we’re so inclined to stick with the LX. It really is fantastic.

Call Quality

Sidekick Slide: Motorola integrated the ear speaker on the actual screen panel, instead of the d-pad where all of the ear speakers have always been housed. This was an awesome move, and provides the most clear and not awkward talking experience of any Sidekick to date. It is also incredibly comfortable.

Sidekick LX: As we mentioned above, the ear speaker is housed on the d-pad which is on the left side of the phone. We don’t normally use the Sidekick devices as phones, but when we tried it out, we noticed a buzz / hiss through out all conversations, and after a couple minutes the d-pad started to get annoying.

Conclusion:

We hope you liked our head-to-head battle between the Sidekick Slide and the Sidekick LX. What’s our ultimate conclusion? If you’re a hardcore Sidekick user you’ll want to grab the LX. The keyboard and screen alone make this a win. The Sidekick Slide isn’t really beneath the LX on the totem pole, so if you want an awesome phone, but love the Danger OS all in a small device, you will definitely want to pickup the Slide. It’s a hard choice, believe us. We switched from the LX to the Slide, back to the LX probably 6 times alone in the past day, but for now, we’re sticking with the Sidekick LX. The screen is just too good…
