In an unexpected move, the Danger/Motorola produced Sidekick Slide — formerly known as the Zante — has been confirmed as launching in October, but not necessarily in the United States. The first mention of the product can be found on the T-Mobile UK website, where it is described as having “full” Internet access, and being suited to mobile blogging. Traditionally, Sidekicks have been a flagship product of T-Mobile US, where they have sometimes had official and unofficial celebrity endorsements.
The Slide has so far been confirmed has having a 1.3-megapixel camera, as well as connection options including EDGE and Bluetooth. The phone is also expected to play AAC, MP3 and WMA files, stored on miniSD cards that hold up to 2GB. The primary feature is an offset QWERTY keyboard designed to be more ergonomic than past Sidekicks.

I reorganized it into Sidekick 3 skins and Sidekick ID skins.

A patent holding company is suing T-Mobile over seven patents, including five from a previous suit it brought against Research in Motion for wireless e-mail.
NTP filed a patent infringement suit in U.S. District Court in Virginia, claiming that T-Mobile’s Sidekick services, “My Email” and “Corporate My Email” violate patents it has acquired.

Some of those MySpace kids who keep a close eye on things have noticed that DJ AM has a “Private” event with T-Mobile on October 16th listed in his MySpace profile. DJ AM has played previous Sidekick release parties, including the Sidekick II and 3. There’s no information on whether this is for the Sidekick Slide or the Sidekick LX (or both) yet.

Well, it seems to be official. Master P and Romeo are the new faces of the sidekick.
They even made a song about it. Here are some of the lyrics.
”Tmail me, my Sidekick, you got one? Flip it up!”
“Hit me on the Sidekick, rollin’ with a fly chick, I ain’t even trippin’ wody, that’s just my sidekick.”
“I do it for the trappers, I do it for the dope boys, Sidekick ringin’”
“Halle Berry in the Sidekick, you know I keep a fly chick, I could make it rain, T-Mobile phone in the pocket. Got a pearl white one like my boy D-Wade. I ain’t trippin’ on the haters ‘cuz I’m already paid.”
“This thing on my hip? Yeah, tt’s called a Sidekick, CHYEA!, it’s more than a phone, it compliment the wrist.”
“D-Wade iced out shinin’ like a lighthouse”
“We ain’t got to speak, let your hands do the talkin’ mami, tmail the info to the after party”
“FLIP IT UP, FLIP IT UP, FLIP IT IP, FLIP IT UP, FLIP IT UP, FLIP IT UP”
Reaction to this seems mixed. Check out more about that here.
The BoyGeniusReport has some shots of the Sidekick LX “Shuriken” for your viewing pleasure. They don’t seem the best quality but for “spy” pics what do you expect? The new larger screen looks pretty nice.

So here is some more speculation on the google phone. Why is this an interest to Sidekick users? Because the Andy Rubin, who helped found Danger, the makers of the Sidekick Software, is involved. Will this turn out to be like the Sidekick but only open carrier? Only time will tell.
